National Park Week is here! This week is all about celebrating some of our favorite places where lifelong memories get made. We know this time of year looks a little different for everyone depending on where you are geographically, so we wanted to round up the 5 best ways to join in on the fun! Whether you are minutes away from your favorite park or states away, we have got an activity for you!
Biking season is right around the corner! Biking is a popular activity in many national parks and is a great way to explore an area from outside a vehicle. Did you know that Glacier is one of the top favorite national parks to bike in? With the breathtaking mountain views and the range of elevation, biking the Going-to-the-Sun Road is no doubt a memorable experience. If you plan to take a ride make sure to pack plenty of water and, of course, a couple of snacks! Shop our new hydro flask water bottles here!
P.S. Biking opens on Going-to-the-Sun Road for the 2023 season on May 5th.
2. Cozy at home!
This one might be our favorite – especially on a chilly, Montana spring day. Grab your coziest blanket, a cup of coffee, and a puzzle! There will be plenty of warm summer days to explore, so don’t feel pressure to head outside for fun this week. Thanks to our new collaboration with Montana Coffee Traders, the Trailblazer coffee blend is now available online at shop.glacier.org. Let us be your one-stop shop for everything cozy this national park week!
Hiking is a great activity, whether you are needing to clear your mind or just looking to explore! Glacier National Park is known as a hiker’s paradise, and hiking is one of the most popular activities here thanks to the rugged and pristine landscape. It is also something that you can do practically anywhere! If you are living in a winterized version of spring, throw on some snowshoes or spikes and get out there! You can spend all day hiking around or just go for a couple of hours. If you’re looking for some new gear to spice up your hiking game, check out our Cotopaxi day packs, and if you are planning a trip to Glacier, be sure to snag a map! This day hike map is a visitor favorite.

4. Read at the lake!
Reading is one of the best ways to learn about a place and its history – from anywhere! If you’re looking for a relaxing activity this national park week, we recommend grabbing a good book and your favorite blanket and heading to the lake. We love our Glacier Rumpl blanket for this activity, especially on a breezy spring day the vibrant colors remind us that summer is coming!
Did you know our park store started as a bookstore? Although we’ve expanded our product selection quite a bit, we still have an impressive selection of books. If you’re looking for a new read, we suggest checking out our Glacier Book Club selections for this year!
5. Overnight trip!
Sure, maybe you don’t live right outside your favorite park but you can always travel to it! If you’re feeling antsy to hit the road for an adventure we think this is the perfect week for it. Be sure to download the newly released season of Headwaters podcast to keep you company on your drive. This season is all about the history of Glacier National Park! We also recommend packing your favorite travel blanket! We love the Rumpl nanoloft puffy blanket for road trips, it packs down to the size of a Nalgene water bottle!
Oh! And tag us – we want to see where you’re going!
