Giving Every Montana Fourth Grader a Park Experience

This new initiative, led by the National Parks Foundation, is a multi-park, statewide project that seeks to ensure that every fourth grade child in the state of Montana visits public lands. Expanding on our existing program that gets local students into Glacier National Park, funding for this initiative will provide transportation assistance to those schools/communities in the state that are underserved in their access to public lands for outdoor education. NPS and Montana State Parks’ education staffs will identify those communities and school districts that have the least access (due to lack of transportation funds) for field trips and provide the necessary funding for the students to visit a park or public land for Outdoor Education.

Support for this program will be matched by our Yellowstone Park Foundation and Yellowstone Park Association Partners, and through the National Park Service Centennial Challenge Cost Share program.
