Sperry Chalet Winter Photos

Last fall, through the support of generous donors like you, Glacier National Park completed a significant stabilization effort to protect the Sperry Chalet remnant dormitory walls from snow loads and high winds expected this winter after sustaining significant damage during last summer's Sprague Fire. It appears that thus far those efforts have been successful, and that no extreme events like avalanches have occurred.

On a beautiful February day, a fixed-wing plane with a photographer, hired by the Glacier National Park Conservancy, flew over Sperry Chalet to inspect the structure four months after stabilization and in the midst of a record winter snowpack.

From this vantage point, it appears that the stone walls have thus far withstood the winter weather and discussions about the next steps for the building are continuing.
